QT Hotels & Resorts are celebrating two new awards from Hospitality New Zealand‘s prestigious Hospitality Awards for Excellence 2022tonight in Auckland.
QT Wellington has been awarded Best Luxury Accommodation, a category that recognizes excellence in all accommodation offerings. The hotel demonstrates its unique positioning in the luxury market and continues to offer experiential stays to be recognized as a leader in this category.
The 180 room hotel is just minutes from the entertainment district and directly opposite the Te Papa Tongarewa National Museum. Capturing the heart of New Zealand’s creative capital, guests can immerse themselves in a mesmerizing fusion of art and luxury and even stay in one of the 25 Gallery 4 Rooms, each furnished with bespoke artwork by a New Zealand artist. QT Wellington is where the initiated get a taste of the avant-garde while indulging in their most creative selves and speaking of indulgence; QT Wellington is home to renowned restaurants, Hippopotamus and Hot Sauce.
QT Wellington Executive Chef Jiwon Do was also honored with the 2022 Chef of the Year title. It’s Do’s passion for what he does, his flair for creativity, his ethos of supporting the region and his craft of telling stories through every dish that has led to this success. Under the direction of Chef Do since 2018, Hippopotamus Restaurant and Cocktail Bar has grown into an award-winning signature restaurant at QT Wellington. Do brings his own unique flair to the French-inspired fine-dining restaurant, known for both its high tea and the outstanding chef’s tasting menu.
Chef Do has a story behind every dish and creates menus that take guests on a journey, with a focus on locally grown produce and sustainable, ethically sourced ingredients, expertly woven into unique and experimental flavor combinations. Hippopotamus recently maintained its two-hat status at the Cuisine Good Food Awards.
General Manager QT Wellington Chris Greening said: “It is fantastic to see QT Wellington being recognized and having the opportunity to celebrate our team’s commitment to providing unique and memorable guest experiences. Congratulations to Chef Do for the magic he creates in Hippopotamus and Hot Sauce; Chef of the Year is a well deserved award.”
