UNCW hooks up new interactive art project

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – If you’re looking for a fun project this week, UNCW has it all with its interactive Unity Wheel.

The public art exhibition is intended to celebrate the campus. It works with teal, gold, and navy blue yarn. The participants move around a huge wheel and cross between bars that represent their identity. This includes things like a first generation college student, veteran, leader, and so on.

Activities coordinator Darion Bayles said it was a great way to unite students and celebrate what makes them unique.

“I hope it stimulates people to think more about how they see themselves, how they identify, but how that relates to everyone else around them,” said Bayles.

The exhibition is open until next Tuesday from 11.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. You can find it in front of the Randall Library.
