R Madhavan, Harbhajan Singh, Prem Chopra and other stars support Save Soil Movement
Launched by Sadhguru, founder of the Isha Foundation, the Save Soil movement has become a major force in bringing global attention to soil dieback and continues to garner support from Bollywood celebrities, singers and athletes.
From top actors to popular singers to cricketers, many stars have expressed concern about soil degradation and expressed support for the save soil movement. The list includes Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, Prem Chopra, Mouni Roy, Juhi Chawla, Shilpa Shetty, Manisha Koirala, Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal, Diljit Dosanjh, Maluma, Harbhajan Singh, AB de Villiers, Matthew Hayden and Vivian Richards.
Bollywood actor R Madhavan shared a video message on Twitter, saying: “According to the World Economic Forum, 60% of the world’s population suffers from some form of malnutrition. Scientists even note that people from wealthy families suffer from malnutrition – it is called hidden hunger. Your stomach is full, so you don’t realize it, but your body suffers from this malnutrition. The food we eat is deficient in essential elements because our soil itself is dying. There is not enough organic content in it. If we don’t keep our soil healthy, we and future generations cannot stay healthy. It’s time to save the ground. Join me in my quest to save the soil and create a healthy and sustainable planet.”(Also read: Sadhguru embarks on a 100 day motorcycle journey from London to India to save earth)
Prem Chopra supported the movement. Actor Sharman Joshi, his son-in-law, shared his video in which the veteran actor reminded people that earth is not an inert object, but a living being that nourishes us. He stressed the urgent need to save the ground and urged people to spread the message on their social media. He wondered, “If Sadhguru ji can travel 30,000 km at the age of 65 to save the ground, why can’t we tweet every day to raise awareness among people?”
Thanking the veteran actor for the support, Sadhguru replied, “The soil is a mother like no other. No life can escape her embrace. When our humanity is alive in our hearts, we must answer their distress call and turn it into song. Let’s make it happen. -Sg”
Harbhajan Singh also used Twitter to share his interaction with Sadhguru on Save Soil. Calling for everyone to be a part of this movement, he said: “An insightful chat with @SadhguruJV as he drives across different countries to support the #SaveSoil movement. Kudos to him for carrying out this gigantic project. Come on, let’s all be a part of this great cause.”
Singer Shreya Ghoshal and Sadhguru also had a similar Twitter exchange surrounding Save Soil. Praising the students at Isha Home School who danced to her song Apni Maati, she wrote, “This is beautiful!! #ApniMaati found the most profound interpretation through the performance of these talented children for the #SaveSoil cause. Really touched.”
In response to her comments, Sadhguru emphasized, “Namaskaram Shreya – Earth is the platform on which the dance of life takes place. Without a stable platform, life cannot dance with devotion. Let us ensure that our children and all future generations continue to celebrate life. #SaveSoil. Let’s make it happen. Blessing. -Sg”
Inspired by Sadhguru’s solo motorcycle journey of 30,000 km across 25 nations, she replied: “I follow your amazing 100 days solo motorcycle journey! We all bear a great responsibility towards our soil, our planet, our people and our future. Thank you for showing us the way and inspiring us to act.”
Kangana Ranaut also extended her support on Instagram, writing: “Please do your bit and #savesoil. Join @consciousplanet and be part of the movement… We want #savesoil as government policy and it should be the basis for choosing our leadership. If we see it as a crisis, it will be addressed or this crisis will become a disaster very soon… let’s spread awareness… do your part and join us.”
Sadhguru started the global #SaveSoil movement from London. The 65-year-old yogi is making the journey to raise awareness and enact policy changes related to soil dieback. Sadhguru will ride through 25 countries and traverse three continents to draw attention to the greatest ecological concern of our generation – the rapid extinction of soils.
Former Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn had joined the list of celebrities to support the save soil movement. Taking to Twitter, the actor shared a video of Sadhguru and Czech mathematician Karel Janeček talking about the Save Soil movement and said: “I am happy to support this cause because healthy soil is the cornerstone of life. I wish you all the best on your #JourneyForSoil @SadhguruJV.”
Sadhguru thanked the Bollywood star and replied: “Namaskaram Ajay. Thank you for your warm wishes and support. It is a privilege of our time that we have the resources, the technology and the competence to change this situation. Your vote will help unite people in this mission-critical #SaveSoil effort.
