Mateusz Bogusz gives an insight into the drama of his move from Leeds United on the cut-off date
Leeds United ace Matuesz Bogusz spoke about his nervousness on deadline day after joining Spanish club UD Logrones and shared his goals for the season.
The 19-year-old will spend the season on loan with the Spanish second division side to increase his chances in the first team and continue his development.
Bogusz’s only appearance in the league was rated highly on the final day of last season at Elland Road as the Whites celebrated promotion to the Premier League.
Given the fierce competition for a midfield position, Bogusz has moved to Spain but was nervous before closing a deal due to the hustle and bustle of Deadline Day.
“It was my first real experience of closing the market and I kept calling my agent asking where and when he was going,” he told the club’s official website.
“On the morning of the last market day, I had 5-6 offers from Poland, Italy, England … and I wasn’t sure where to go. In the end we all thought Spain was the best place for me. “
Although he is aware that he will have to fight for regular chances at his new club, he is determined to secure as much playing time as possible.
“I’ve heard that it’s a good club with a good team and I hope to fight for a place on the team,” he added.
“I know there are good players out there and I want to try to play as many games as possible and to keep learning and developing as a footballer and as a person.
“I want to have a positive impact on the team and help achieve the goal. I know I have to work hard. I focus on being an elite player and that’s my goal. To get to the next level, that is the plan. ” , I know I have to come here and impress the people on and off the square.
“It’s important that people speak positively of me during my time in Spain and that will only happen if I work hard and the coach and my team-mates trust me. That’s what I want to achieve.”
