Ole Gunnar Solskjaer explains why he loaned Jesse Lingard to West Ham

Manchester United has taken a fresh approach to loan brokerage fees.

The Premier League giants have a large roster and regularly loan out young players and senior stars, with Jesse Lingard joining West Ham in January, which started his career.

United’s basic premise is that every player moves to the best club for their development, rather than an agent who can earn the highest commission. Therefore, they do not believe that the representative should be paid by both clubs.

Agents make healthy commissions – it was revealed this week that Premier League clubs are hitting a total of $ 272 million despite the pandemic.

If a player makes £ 1 million a year the agent would pay a five percent or £ 50,000 commission, United may have to offset £ 500,000 in salaries rather than paying the agent twice.

It may not go down well with all agents, but it will likely make sure the player ends up with the right club rather than switching to help the agent get a payday.

Justin Cochrane took on as the English U21 substitute for Aidy Boothroyd

Justin Cochrane will be defending for the England U21 job, with Aidy Boothroyd leaving the Football Association this summer.

Former Spurs youth coach Cochrane, who is currently in charge of England’s U17 national team, is rated very highly and it would also be a positive statement from the FA to appoint a black coach for a high profile job.

Former England international Jay Bothroyd played youth football at Cochrane at U-10 level, then joined the U-10 national team at QPR and believes Cochrane has all the credentials.

Former Arsenal manager Bothroyd, 38, who now plays in the Japanese J League in Sapporo, said: “He is a forward-thinking coach with possession and the ability to connect with young players with excellent knowledge of the game.

“He has worked with many different age groups, particularly through Tottenham Academy and now through the English youth.

“Gareth Southgate recently featured him in the media and having a black man to manage the Under-21s would show equality and that our game is moving and moving forward.”

Southgate referred to Cochrane last year when asked about the shortage of coaches for black and ethnic minority groups and said he might be a “top coach”.

Boothroyd’s contract expires this summer, it won’t be renewed and Cochrane clearly has strong support while England U-19 coach Ian Foster is another name to watch.

Request of the Premier League club for a new Champions League

Premier League clubs are watching developments in the newly designed Champions League with interest.

And a simple wish is that, despite the additional games, they want to keep January free as the one month that remains untouchable for European games.

Coronavirus head injury research put on hold

Research into head injuries in ex-players has been put on hold in dozens of cases because of the pandemic.

A former England international was supposed to take part, was booked for a specialist, but was still able to make the visit. The player remembers a huge frame at his training field with a ball attached, and he practiced head hundreds of times a week.
